The Halo Eeffect – March Of The Unheard

The Halo Effect’s sophomore album, March of the Unheard, released on January 10, 2025, continues the band’s homage to the classic Gothenburg melodic death metal sound. Formed by former In Flames members and fronted by Mikael Stanne of Dark Tranquillity, the band builds upon their debut, Days of the Lost, delivering a blend of nostalgia and fresh elements.

Tracks like “Conspire to Deceive” and “Detonate” evoke the aggressive yet melodic essence of 1990s melodeath, while songs such as “Our Channel to the Darkness” and “Between Directions” introduce acoustic preludes and orchestral arrangements, showcasing the band’s progressive approach. While some critics note that certain tracks may blur together due to a similar formula, the album is praised for its authentic recapture of the genre’s golden era. Overall, March of the Unheard stands as a testament to The Halo Effect’s commitment to both their roots and evolution within the melodic death metal scene.
